Sushi Making
Home Sushi Making
Have you ever eaten sushi at a restaurant and wondered how something that looks so delicate is actually made? This course teaches you exactly that. You will learn to prepare sushi rice the right way, handle fish safely, and roll everything from simple maki to clean, restaurant style nigiri. Whether you want to work in a hotel kitchen or just want to cook proper sushi at home, this course gives you real skills through hands-on practice, not just theory.
The Sushi Making Course at United Technical School runs for one month in Kumaripati, Lalitpur. Every class is practical. You will not sit and watch a chef cook from a distance. You will cook, roll, and plate sushi yourself, with a small batch size so your trainer can guide you one on one. If you have been searching for sushi training in Kathmandu or a sushi course in Nepal, this is built for exactly that.
Seats are limited each batch, so if you are ready to start, enroll now and get going.
Japanese food has become a lot more popular in Kathmandu over the past few years. New sushi restaurants keep opening, and hotels are adding sushi to their menus to keep up with demand. This has created real openings for people who actually know how to make sushi properly, not just copy what they saw online.
Learning sushi making is not just useful for restaurant jobs either. Many people pick up this skill to cook for their own family, or even start a small catering side business for parties and events. Because demand keeps growing on both sides, restaurants and home cooking, sushi making is a smart skill to learn right now.
The course starts with the basics of Japanese cuisine and why sushi rice matters so much. You will learn how to cook and season sushi rice properly, since this is the foundation every other sushi dish builds on. Get this step wrong, and nothing else turns out right, no matter how good your rolling technique is.
Once you are comfortable with rice, you move into knife skills and fish handling. You will learn how to handle fish safely and hygienically, along with basic cutting techniques used throughout sushi preparation. This part of the course focuses heavily on safety and cleanliness, since proper fish handling matters as much as taste.
From there, you move into rolling. You will practice maki rolls first, since they teach the core rolling motion every other type builds on, then move into uramaki, the inside out roll style that is common in most restaurants today.
In the later weeks, you move into nigiri and sashimi, which take more precision and a steadier hand than rolled sushi. You will also learn plating and presentation, since sushi is as much about how it looks as how it tastes. The course wraps up with a final practical assessment, where you put everything together and prepare a full sushi spread on your own.
This course is open to anyone who wants to learn, no matter your background.
You do not need any prior cooking experience. It is a good fit if you:
Training takes place in a hands-on kitchen lab equipped with the tools needed for sushi preparation, including proper knives, rolling mats, and rice cooking equipment. Because batches are kept small, each student gets proper access to equipment during practice instead of waiting in a long queue.
