Barista + IELTs/PTE Joint Course | Barista and IELTS/PTE Bundle Course in Nepal

The United Technical School and HUB International Joint Education Package is a package tailored for students who aspire to equip themselves with practical skills that will enable them to pursue their careers and at the same time be prepared for education and career opportunities in an international context.

This unique course package is a combination of professional hospitality training and language training that prepares students to participate in an international context.

Under this partnership, learners receive not only hands-on technical training but also comprehensive preparation for IELTS or PTE, equipping them with both practical skills and the English language proficiency needed for international study and career opportunities.

Students have the opportunity to develop employability skills and confidently explore other educational and career opportunities beyond Nepal.

It is a balanced package whereby you not only learn how to perform barista jobs in a professional setting but also prepare yourself by improving English language skills for further success in international studies and careers.

United Technical School and HUB International have partnered and offered a package course whereby learners get a professional barista training package along with preparation for IELTS or PTE.

The full bundle costs NPR 18,000. That covers both the barista training at UTS and the IELTS/PTE preparation at HUB International in a single enrollment.

If you are planning to work or study abroad, this is one of the most practical combinations available in Nepal right now. If you want the Barista Training only, the option is also available.

Why this Bundle Course?

Most international pathways, whether for work or study abroad, require two things: a practical skill and a recognized English score. Getting both usually means enrolling at two separate places, paying two separate fees, and managing two different schedules.

This bundle takes both into one enrollment at one combined cost. You do not have to coordinate between two institutions or pay full price at each. The barista training from UTS and the IELTS/PTE preparation from HUB International run in parallel, so neither delays the other.

Through this collaboration, both institutions work together to provide a seamless learning experience, making the process simpler and more convenient for students. Learners benefit from coordinated training, expert guidance, and a clear pathway toward international employment or higher education, all while saving time, effort, and cost.

For students going to Australia, UK, USA, UAE, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, or the European continent, having both a CTEVT barista certificate and a recognized English score puts you ahead of most other applicants.

Bundle Course Details: Course Overview

This program runs across two modules at the same time. Module 1 is the barista training at UTS. Module 2 is the IELTS and PTE preparation at HUB International. Both run on separate flexible schedules so neither clashes with the other.

Professional Barista Training

You start with the full coffee journey, from plant to cup, covering harvesting, processing, roasting, and brewing. After that, you move into hands-on equipment training on espresso machines, grinders, and the cafe tools used in real coffee shops.

From there, you learn to prepare 22 varieties of beverages. Hot drinks, iced drinks, and manual brew styles are all covered. This section includes grinding, dosing, tamping, espresso extraction, and recipe preparation.

Milk texturing and latte art come next. You practice Heart, Rosetta, and Swan designs until they are consistent enough for a real cafe environment.

The module also covers cafe opening and closing procedures, hygiene standards, food safety, and customer service. Cleaning, maintenance, and safe handling of coffee equipment run throughout the whole program.

IELTS and PTE Preparation

English language skills are the focus of Module 2. You begin by understanding the test formats, scoring systems, and what each exam actually requires. After that, the program works through all four skills.

Listening includes different question types, note-taking, and developing concentration skills in an exam setting. The reading component involves skimming, scanning, and reading faster along with building vocabulary.

The writing section involves IELTS Task 1 and Task 2 along with PTE writing sections. Structure, grammar, idea generation, and vocabulary building are included in this module. The speaking module helps develop fluency and pronunciation along with building confidence.

Regular practice sessions help you find weak areas early so you can fix them before exam day. The module finishes with full-length mock tests, performance evaluation, and direct feedback from HUB International instructors to push your band score before you sit the actual exam.

Who Can Join This Bundle

This program is open to anyone who wants to work or study abroad and needs both a practical skill and an English language score.

It works well if you:

  • Just finished SEE and are planning to go abroad for work or study
  • Want to work in cafes or hotels in Australia, UAE, Japan, or Korea
  • Need both a CTEVT certificate and an IELTS or PTE score for your visa application
  • Want to save money and time by doing both together instead of separately
  • Are a +2 student or working professional planning your next move abroad

Students must be at least 16 years old. SEE pass or equivalent is the only academic requirement. No prior barista or English test experience is needed.

IELTS vs PTE: Which Should You Choose?

Both are accepted for work visas and student visas in most countries. However, they work differently and suit different students.

IELTS

PTE

Format Paper or computer-based Fully computer-based
Results 3 to 13 days Within 2 business days
Scoring Human assessed AI automated
Test dates More dates in Nepal Fewer test dates
One skill retake Yes, retake one section only Not available
Best for UK, Canada, USA, Australia Australia, New Zealand, UAE

Two things updated in 2026 worth knowing:

First, IELTS now lets you retake just one skill section if you fall short in only one area. So if listening, reading, and writing are fine but speaking pulls your score down, you only redo speaking. PTE does not offer this.

Secondly, as of August 2025, Australia requires that the scores obtained on PTE meet the minimum band score individually for each skill and not on aggregate. Furthermore, PTE Core is not acceptable in Australia, only PTE Academic. If Australia is your target destination, it will be important to check whether you are preparing for PTE Academic.

If you get jittery whenever you have to speak with a human being as the examiner, then PTE is worth considering because everything here is computer-graded and therefore, consistent. If you require more flexible dates or if you intend applying to different countries, IELTS is worth considering.

Not sure which fits your situation? HUB International instructors look at your target country and current English level in the first session and guide you toward the right choice.

Why Choose This Bundle Over Enrolling Separately

  • Cost saving: Enrolling in barista training and IELTS/PTE preparation separately at two different institutions costs significantly more than NPR 18,000. The bundle fee covers both.
  • Time saving: Both components run in parallel. You do not have to finish one before starting the other. You cover both within the same overall period.
  • Single enrollment: One admission process, one fee, one point of contact. You do not have to coordinate between two institutions or manage two separate schedules on your own.
  • Designed for abroad: The bundle is specifically built for students who need both components for international applications. Most IELTS prep centers do not offer a vocational skill alongside language prep. Most barista schools do not offer language test preparation. This bundle does both.

Planning to Work Abroad?

A CTEVT barista certificate indicates to the employer you are trained to the national standards and an IELTS/PTE score indicates to visa offices/universities that you are able to use the language of English as dictated by the requirements.

The countries employing Nepali workers in the hospitality sector ask for both.

  • Australia: IELTS or PTE required for student and work visas. Well-trained baristas can easily find work in cafes, while studying.
  • UAE and Gulf countries: The work visa application is generally processed through IELTS General Test. Barista courses are being highly prioritized in Hotels and cafes.
  • Japan and Korea: Foreign language knowledge for job application alone will be an advantage for a variety of work visa application. Skills and employment qualification also enhance work visa chances.
  • Malaysia: The expanding catering industry is increasingly employing paramedically qualified baristas from Nepal and speaking proper English.
  • United Kingdom: IELTS often needed for UK work and student visas. The UK hospitality and tourism industry is booming in London and other major cities, with a constant need for food and beverage service staff, such as baristas. Your application, with a CTEVT, and international English test score is seriously attractive.
  • Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Scandinavia): A number of European nations are accepting IELTS for skilled worker visas. For instance, Germany has also gone ahead with recruiting vocational workers from outside the EU on a larger scale. When it comes to Nepali applicants, if combined with an English score, a barista certificate issued from a program linked to CTEVT can help fulfil the documentation needs for applying as a skilled worker in a hospitality occupation.
  • Canada: The main English exemptions for study permits and work visas are IELTS. Canada’s hospitality market is recruiting for trained personnel. Barista skills are required in larger markets like Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary.
  • USA: The US visa process differs from elsewhere, but majority of the US universities take IELTS and PTE scores into consideration during their student admission process. Nepal students who combine having barista skill with possessing an English score are more likely to have work in the hospitality sector while studying in the US.

FAQs

Barista training takes place at the United Technical School campus in Kumaripati, Lalitpur. IELTS and PTE preparation classes are held at HUB International Education in Kathmandu. Both locations are easy to reach from across the Kathmandu Valley.

The CTEVT qualification is accepted by many recruiters and employment agencies who are recruiting personnel for positions in Gulf nations, Japan, Korea, Australia, and Malaysia. If accompanied by an IELTS or PTE score, it adds a lot of value to job visa applications.

No prior barista or English language test experience is required. The barista module starts from the very basics of coffee. The IELTS/PTE module begins with a skills assessment to identify your current level before building up from there.

A lot of students join this bundle in the gap between +2 results and for those who are determined to go abroad. The double schedule allows you to do both parts simultaneously in your free time period.

After completing the barista training, students will receive a CTEVT-affiliated Barista Course Certificate. After giving the IELTS or PTE exam, students receive an official score report from the examination body.

This bundle is especially helpful for the students who are planning to go to Australia, the UAE, Gulf countries, Japan, Korea and Malaysia, as all these countries need both an English proficiency score and vocational training proof prior to the visa applications.

Both PTE and IELTS are acceptable in almost all international countries as far as working and studying is concerned. PTE is entirely computerized with no human interference in the evaluation process and is quite reliable from that aspect. However, IELTS provides more options for the test dates in Nepal. Instructors at HUB International will help you decide based on your target country and level of English in your first class itself.

The Barista and IELTS/PTE bundle course is a joint program between United Technical School and HUB International Education. Students complete professional barista training at UTS and IELTS or PTE preparation at HUB International, both running in parallel under a single enrollment at a combined fee of NPR 18,000.

This program offers a practical learning approach that combines job-ready training with international language preparation. It provides a simple and affordable pathway for students who want to build skills, expand career options, and prepare for opportunities beyond Nepal.

Many international education pathways require both English language test scores and practical experience. This bundle helps students prepare for those requirements by improving language skills while also building employable technical abilities.

Instead of enrolling in two separate programs, students receive both technical training and language preparation together at a reduced combined fee. This makes it a cost-effective option for students who want practical skills and international readiness at the same time.

The language preparation course focuses on improving English communication skills and preparing students for internationally recognised tests such as IELTS or PTE. It typically covers reading, writing, listening, and speaking practice along with exam strategies.

Students will learn practical cafe and coffee preparation skills, including espresso making, milk texturing, beverage presentation, customer service basics, and an understanding of cafe workflow. The course is designed to prepare students for real hospitality work environments.

The bundle includes two key courses. The first is a Professional Barista Course delivered by United Technical School (UTS), which focuses on hands-on coffee and cafe skills. The second is a Language/Test Preparation Course (IELTS/PTE) offered by HUB International to support students in meeting language requirements for study or work abroad.

This program is ideal for students who want to develop practical hospitality skills and also prepare for English language tests such as IELTS or PTE. It is especially suitable for those planning to study abroad or pursue international career opportunities.
